Lindsey + Warren | First Wedding Photos

As a wedding photographer, I usually recommend that my brides and grooms opt for a "first look" on their wedding day. A first look is when the bride and groom see each other BEFORE the ceremony (*gasp*) so that we can do their wedding portraits in a relaxed, stress-free environment, where the couple isn't rushed to get to the reception. I also love love LOVE first looks because I think it is just so amazingly special for the couple to get a chance to take a moment to themselves before all the madness starts, to be able to say to each other "Hey, we're getting married today!" and to just get to BE together without all their guests looking on... it always makes for some really beautiful photographs.

That being said... I totally respect when a couple wants to go the traditional route of not seeing each other until the bride walks down the isle. And that's what my latest couple, Lindsey and Warren, decided to do. Yes, personally, I was a little bummed that I wasn't going to get a chance to do the first look photos but I understood. And then... then, this happened:

Before the ceremony, Warren and Lindsey were each sequestered to a bedroom to await the start of their wedding. They were only separated by a single wall, probably only actually 10 feet away from where their future spouse waited. Prior to the wedding day, Lindsey had mentioned that she would love to get some sort of photo together with Warren before the wedding, without seeing him. Since we didn't have the time to try and find another location to do that photo, I simply asked them each to stand on either side of the wall and just reach around for the other's hand... it turned out pretty perfect I think. :) 

Good idea Lindsey! I absolutely adore these photos and I love that you and Warren were able to have a special moment together, without ruining the tradition that you wanted to uphold.
