Brennen | Wilsonville Portrait Session
This is the story of a boy and horse. Dutch, the horse, and Brennen, the boy, became friends years ago during a time in Brennen's life when he so much needed a friend. And Dutch was perfectly the kind of friend who had no expectations or demands, could be there for Brennen to lean on, to be comforted by, and to help him learn how to smile again. Brennen hadn't seen Dutch in years and had even believed that he had passed away. But Brennen's mom was able to track the old horse down and arranged to surprise her son by reuniting him with his beloved friend, and asked me to be there to capture the special moment.
Brennen couldn't quite believe it... he kept saying, "I THINK it's Dutch... but I'm not sure." :)
It didn't take long though... and Brennen was once again leaning on his old friend.
It really was just the sweetest thing to see the tenderness of Brennen with Dutch. You could see him remembering everything that he used do with Dutch, remember how they used to be. More then anything, Brennen wanted to ride Dutch again but because of Dutch's age, it just wasn't possible but I think Brennen realized that it was okay, that sometimes things, people, and even animals change and grow old. As Brennen grows up, I'm sure he'll always remember Dutch with a smile and be grateful for their friendship and I hope that these photos are a good reminder of that precious friendship. A friendship between an amazing boy and a beloved horse.
