Big Girl Pants

Today was the day. A big day. A big BIG day in the world of me.

This morning, at 10am Pacific Standard Time, I walked into the offices of Tabor Accounting Group to literally, take care of business. For almost four years now, photography has been something that I've been "trying to make work" and "hoping to do full time". It's been hit and miss, feast and famine, as a swing from absolute surety to insecure panic, but somehow I've been getting by and this so called business of mine has been growing. I figured it was about time that I stop waiting to see if I'm going to fail at this and just go ahead and make the commitment to being a REAL business. So in light of tax season and all, a couple weeks ago, I finally pulled the trigger and made an appointment with an accountant... for two days after taxes are due. -.- Go figure. And that's how I found myself pulling on my big girl pants this morning and doing the responsible thing of talking LLC's, sales tax, and business banking... things I never imagined I would have any reason to be concerned with. I was so nervous (and sweaty) but the folks over at Tabor Accounting Group were super nice and helpful and didn't make me feel stupid for not knowing what kind of business license I should have (something that I was sure every accountant would do) and politely ignored my clammy hands. I walked out of our meeting feeling greatly relieved to have gotten it over without and super excited that someone else was now in charge of the annoying numbers. :-D

Now, maybe when people ask me "What do you do?" I can answer "Photographer!" without hesitation and feeling like my mouth is full of marbles. And when I hand someone a business card, maybe I won't be so worried about them reading it and then yelling "FRAUD!" as they demand to see my business licensee. Because now, if that happens, I can happily shove one in their face. Heheehee
